Christmas has traditionally been a time of reunion, and on this year's Christmas Plate from Royal Copenhagen entitled "Welcome Home", there is a poignant depiction of this experience. A small boy there waits on the snow-clad seashore to bid his father a warm welcome home after a long day out at sea. Artist Sven Vestergaard has created this year's motif, of which a part is also reproduced on the 1998 Christmas Cup, Ornament and Bell. All items are produced in relief and hand-decorated in the famous cobalt blue underglaze color. The Christmas Plate is elegantly gift boxed, complete with a certificate of authenticity.
